Caaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaake!!!!

We could, and totally should make way better badges than these, although they do look quite yummy.... Just a wee thankyou to everyone who baked things for the sale yesterday, we raised £164!! Go us!! Some of the money will go into buying card and envelopes for the christmas cards, and the rest will be put in the pot for later.
Talking of Christmas cards, I think i have gotten designs from almost everyone, and they are looking pretty sweet, thankyou! We aren't going to be printing them until after the ever so lovely cvcs week (hopfully monday the 10th) so theres still time to send your designs. What alot of people have suggested however is that we print everyones name and some contact details (e-mail, website, blog...) on the the back of their card. Seems like a pretty sensible idea, so if you could let me know what information you want to include, that'd be swell. Oh, my e-mail address is mypaperhouse@hotmail.co.uk, ta.
Nice pictures!!! Hope you are all having an amazing weekends :)

Exchange image...

Everyone's exchange stuff looks really good! I wonder what kind of writing we'll get in response? Here's mine, though I'm a bit concerned the contrast and saturation might be out of whack on computers other than mine... :/ We'll see.

Lindsay Biffs it up

Hello.
Thanks for inviting me into the friendly fold of illustrationists Lizzy...
Here's what i produced for text+image...A kind of pagan ceremony I would say... (Think I may need to moderate my obsessively line-based drawing style- yesterday I gave myself repetitive strain injury on my hand and had to bath it in hot water to soothe it!Hope this doesn't become a major problem cette année, or torment is ahead.)
Now, back to CVC-boring-S!

...

Here is my illustration for the collaboration project...shamelessly inspired by the dancers on the boat we saw in berlin! I was totally stumped for ideas so I thought this would make a nice image. I am getting into a terrible habit of posting everything twice - here and on my own blog! oh well. i have a website now, by the way, hurrah! there's nothing on it though but the novelty still hasn't worn off...

Creative Writing Swap

In the spirit of Lucy's post on her (amazing) piece for the swap this is mine. I will admit that it wasn't SPECIFICALLY for the swap but something I did on the train home at the end of summer. It didn't have a use but now it does! Hurrah. What have other people done?

Text::Image

This is an etching I've been working on for Harvey's collaboration project. I recommend etching to anyone, it's really quiet in there at the moment and it's now free! Yey! It's also good for mass production of things that would be good at, for example, a Christmas fair. Like the one we happen to be going to in November...

Also here is an image by Il Sung Na that you might like.

Old old fashioned

I've been feeling quite old and a little boring recently, drinking buckets of tea and getting excited about folktales. Here's a wee drawing from my time in Boston for the biffblog pile, some odd things have happened to the colours whilst uploading but i hope you'll accept my offering in all its' orangeness... Here's an old man too, to balance things (this is a portrait of someone not yet bearded).

Quite lovely presentations today too, go us!

Websites Anyone?

Hi guys,

if anyone is thinking of setting up a website - remembering that we all have to have one by the end of the year for professional practice - the company that Jaimie and I use for ours, 34sp are offering a years free webhosting if you buy a domain name with them before November 9th. It's a pretty good deal you save about £18, and you can always buy your website in advance and not upload anything for ages if you're not ready to set up a website yet.

Character sketches

Hey guys, thought I'd finally add something to this blog and post some character sketches, which are about the only thing that's keeping me going right now, and probably what I'll end up doing for the rest of the year (and hopefully I will learn to expand my range of facial types... I'm slowly getting there!)
The one on the top is fortunately/unfortunately a doodle-gone-mad on my proposal notes, because procrastination is at its peak already.

inspiration?

been looking at a couple of past eca graduates (mainly here) for some inspiration. Claire Murray's work is soooooo funny, she just draws animals in such a funny way. i love it.

HI!

Thanks for the motivation, lizzy!!

I've already posted this on my own blog, but I totally love Julie Morstad's work just now.

I know this is not what everyone wants to read but moodle is back up and running (hooray...) and it has details about deadlines and cvcs days/weeks and things. it has made me very nervous. first draft due 7th november. ARGH!!!!!

Final Year for the BIFFs!

OK term is almost upon us so lets get this thing going FOR REAL. It would be really cool if at least a few of us could post regular treats (and even the occasional piece of work) to help one another in the inspiration stakes. Come on BIFFs! etc etc.

So here is something nice.

Micah Lidberg
BLOWS MY MIND with his drawings skills. Seriously this guy is incredible (and like a year older than us or something disgusting). Those colours together should be so wrong but they're just so so right. Sigh. I have a drawing crush.

Your turn. Post someone you like. GO! GO! GO!

Tiny Showcase

OK! I'm going to take the plunge and post some work! Argh! Actually this is already on my site so its not really new. Fail. Anyway a long while ago I met Shea'la Finch who runs the awesome Tiny Showcase and it resulted in me doing a print for them and a t shirt. A t shirt! Amazing! I'm still totally over excited about it as so many of my favourite artists have done prints for the site and people have actually been buying mine (fools)! Anyway below are the shirts. Its definitely worth nosing through the print gallery archive by the way, loads of inspiring work there.

It's been raining...

This has nothing what so ever to do with illustration but nobody has posted anything in a while and I thought a change of scenery would be nice. This is the village where I live after 45mins of very heavy rain! The top two are meant to be roads - not rivers.
