help!

hey guys, i know everyone is super busy but i could do with a bit of advice. i have been having problems with the skateboard and snowboard and painting them is going to look terrible. it will cost me $100 to get a skateboard printed, do you think it is worth it? not sure what the exchange rate is. also, do you think these designs are boring/too simple? i haven't used the bison yet. eeeeep

Aww sorry to hear you're having issues with the board-painting! :(
My brain is dysfunctional at the moment so I will have to wait to provide insight on the design (though at first glance I think they're ace!), but just to let you know 100$ is 67 pounds at the moment - exchange rate is 1.49.
Would you get it printed in time for assessment?

/////// What are you using to paint said skateboard? Would a stencil work? Or some kind of transfer? I think getting it sent off to be printed might be a bit nail-biting. I'm a fan of the bison ones...! (don't think the middle one is so successful for a board) I can see that they would look good printed really crisp and clean looking. Maybe you should send off and also paint one then if it doesn't come in time for assessment you can have it in the show...

yeah i prefer the bison ones too!
only problem that i thought of right away would be do you need to consider where the wheels would go? or does that not matter? just cos the trucks and things take up lots of space in the areas where your designs go. but it would look fine if you're just showing the board without wheels!
I'm thinkig maybe more blocks of colour or solid shapes to pull the linear elements together more?

I feel like the tree-house one would work best on the bottom of a snowboard rather than a skateboard, because skateboard wheels would obscure too much of the image. The bison one on the left is really nice for a skate or snow board I think, because you don't lose the image as much when adding the rest of the gear.

oh no. i'm going to go against the grain and say the houses one! I think regardless of it being a skateboard you want to do something that shows off your work for the show and i think that one is the most engaging and interesting. It might be nice on a coloured background though? or maybe you could colourise the houses? or add a big red sun at the top or something? a colourful would be good.

the bison are very nice too though!

I hate to confuse the issue, but I agree with Lizzy as well. I like the houses. Could you paint it and then varnish it to give a printed look to it? I was in the college shop this morning and you can get quite a few different varnishes to go over different materials. There's also a matt finish one if you didn't want it too shiny.

thanks guys, what would i do without you! i asked my brighton mates and they said the houses one too. it would also be easier to paint i think. i'll try that (if i can stop being sick)
